Working at Mosaic World: A look at HR with colleague Jua

Mosaic World is not just about real estate, but especially about people. What is it like to work in the HR department of this international and people-oriented organization? We spoke with Jua, HR assistant, about her experiences, challenges and what makes her job so much fun.

With a completed HR education, Mosaic World became her first ‘grown-up job’ and she has been working there for 1.5 years now. "My work is incredibly broad: from the inflow to the outflow of employees. I draw up contracts, support new employees and regularly check in with colleagues to see how they are doing. I also supervise absenteeism processes, manage our fleet and work on projects such as our PMO research. No day is the same!"

 A varied working day

"I often start by checking my agenda and mailbox. Then I have meetings with employees or consultations about absenteeism processes. I also work on inflow processes, such as drawing up contracts and arranging supplies for new colleagues. What makes my work extra fun is that I don't sit behind my laptop all day. I regularly visit our locations in the Netherlands, chat with colleagues and supervise meetings. That combination of "administrative" work and direct contact with people is exactly what I like so much."

"My manager, Mathilde, also involves me in projects and encourages me to take on new things. The longer I work here, the more people know how to contact me for advice. There is attention for your growth and well-being, and you notice that in everything," says Jua.

An international HR department

At Mosaic World, colleagues from different countries work, which gives an extra dimension to the work. "We provide HR not only for the Netherlands, but also for our offices abroad. That means a lot of contact with international colleagues via Teams or email. It's nice to hear how they are doing, but you also have to take into account different regulations and customs. Think of holidays and employment conditions that are different in Belgium than in the Netherlands. It requires extra attention, but that's what makes it interesting and educational."

The corporate culture: open, accessible and involved

Jua initially had a different image of a commercial real estate organization. "I thought it would be formal and distant, but I was positively surprised. The culture here is accessible: the doors are always open and everyone gets along well. There is no 'grey suit culture'. We have lunch together, organize team activities and really work together across departments. You not only see the 'professional side', but also the person behind the position. In addition, they really listen to you. If you are struggling with something or have an idea, they take it seriously."

Tips for future colleagues

For those considering a career in HR at Mosaic World, Jua has an important tip: "Be open-minded and flexible. With us, you work with a diverse workforce: young, old, different cultural backgrounds and levels. You have to enjoy working with different people and be really involved in what's going on. Our department is very welcoming, so if you have a positive attitude and enjoy working with people, you're in the right place."
